February 24, 2010: Internet Archive
I'm hosting this page files on Internet Archive now. Reasons: 1. I got nothing to lose, since I don't care about where my public files are; 2. I can use direct linking to the files; 3. I never liked linking to 4shared - too many ads.
But it is not so good. Reason: Internet Archive got fancy/complicated/web based/bad uploading methods, the main one being flash based. I didn't use it, but it is the main one and it is flash based... It is ridiculous, because HEY, this is the Internet Archive damn it!!!
They got one method that can be good (I did not use it): FTP. But, according to them, this method is ancient and they are discontinuing it, there's only one FTP server there now.
Ancient? Fuck, I use FTP everyday in my life. There are few things in the world I HATE more than the web based/cloud computing bandwagon.
PS - Sorry for not posting lately, I've been very sad about Buck's death. I'm waiting the results of his (yes, his) autopsy.
Today, February 8, 2010 my dog partner Buck died at 0500. I loved him, he was a very good friend.
0759, Cause of death still unknown.
My guess is that he reacted badly to the drugs he was taking. He was taking antibiotics due to an stomach infection.
I lost it completely, I can't rationalize any more.
Why that happened? WHY?
After a LONG TIME without updating this home page, I'm back. Hopefully another big delay won't happen again.
By the way, I'm studying Computer Science now, and I lost my job as a Librarian since it was connected with my previous undergraduate course.
See ya.
October 18, 2009: Sepultura and Angra
Hello everyone.
The heavy metal bands Sepultura and Angra are making a tour in Brazil. Last Friday, Oct 16, they played here in Curitiba. Of course I went to the show, Sepultura is one of my favorite bands. Angra rocks too. The show was awesome!
It started a little early, around 2230, Angra played before Sepultura. I had never heard many songs from Angra, so I can not tell what songs they played exactly, but I liked it. Seeing Kiko Loureiro soloing and the bassist soloing was a great experience.
Then came Sepultura. They destroyed the stage with songs like Refuse/Resist, Roots Bloody Roots , Sepulnation, We've Lost You and Territory (which is my favorite).
When they played Territory I fucking banged my head like I wanted to break my fucking neck! I jumped into the mosh pit and moshed like it was a fucking war! It was fucking insane.
After Roots Bloody Roots, Sepultura went away. The public started to yell "Sepultura! Sepultura!". Then they came back with Angra and jammed together. It was exhilarating when Eduardo started to mimic Derrick. :)
They played songs like Back in Black and Number of the Beast. When they were already going away, some guys yelled "Pantera!" and Andreas played the riff of I'm Broken.
It was great.
I watched a movie recently called They Live. It's a very good post-apocalyptic movie. A dystopia in which the rich (who commands the poor through subliminal messages) have some nasty secrets. It resembles real life perfectly.
July 31, 2009: NCannons 0.3 and H1N1
Hi everyone. I have news: I have a job now, I will be a librarian at the library of science and technology in my university. I would start Monday, however, due to the H1N1, all academic activities are suspended until August the eleventh. I'm quite excited, this is my first formal job, and I love books.
Also, the third release of NCannons is avaliable, now on the public domain.
After a little delay, I'm glad to announce the release of NCannons 0.2.
Hope you like it.
It is a pleasure to release the first version of NCannons!
I spent this day programming it. I hope you like it!
Happy hacking!
June 21, 2009: I'm no good with names
Well, here I'm (rocking like a hurricane) writing the first entry for this blog, and thinking about a name for my group of friends. We intend to form a group about hacking, activism, science, math, books, chess and other things that we enjoy, and to write free software, in the moment free games, to replace proprietary ones that, sadly, are the majority in the market. Free as in free speech, not as in free beer. Maybe we can gain a penny or two with that but this is secondary, the most important thing to do is to replace proprietary and anti-ethical games with free ones, thus, maybe four or five decades from now, making the proprietary games obsolete. Non-free software is wrong, it's a crime against humanity to develop proprietary software, and it's anti-ethical to use, because one is supporting criminals when one uses proprietary software. If this is new to you, you may like to read Free Software Free Society: selected essays of Richard M. Stallman.
I'm thinking about a name for some days, and reached no conclusion yet. I realized that I'm no good with names and titles. Another evidence of this is in my work with Richard Stallman &mdash I help him with his home page &mdash sometimes I take a long time to decide which title I must put on a political note. This seems to be easy for the others volunteers, but not for me. Nevertheless, I will continue to think in a name for our group.
This homepage is going through a lot of changes, I hope you enjoy it.
